International expedition named after Thor Heyerdahl will held in Novosibirsk from 10 to 19 of July 2017. Children from Russia, Armenia and Czech Republic attend it. Many of them are seriously involved in the study of ecology and geography, history and ethnography, conduct scientific projects.
Denisa Prokopova from Šumperk has been participating in the volunteer projects of the organization “Czech Scouts” for several years. Six children from different schools of Novosibirsk take part in the expedition. They are also students from the Novosibirsk club “Kon-Tiki”, they participated in more than one water trip, and sang many tourist songs. The student of gymnasium № 7 Daniil Simachev is the assistant of the captain of the “Kon-Tiki” raft and already teaches new recruits about rafting. He is also interested in Japanese culture; he is among the leaders of the region on the results of the All-Russia competitions in informatics. “I want to make friends from different countries. Alexander Vronsky from lyceum №130 named after Academician M.A. Lavrentieva is the prizewinner of the Olympiads in geography, history, mathematics and informatics. He is the winner of the contest of Russian Geographical Institute “The Best Geo-Journalist”. He is a member of school “Ecological Club”. With his geography teacher, he studies the reliability of nation’s weather sayings in Novosibirsk for several years. “As a project for this expedition, I chose a topic related to Thor Heyerdahl. He was an outstanding scientist, an ecologist and told that people need to take care of peace and nature, “says Alexander.
Expedition includes includes visits to the museums and theaters of Novosibirsk and Tomsk, meetings with travelers at the Expocenter, visits to Tomsk universities, schools and innovative companies of the Academpark, as well a three-day trip through the Ob on the raft Kon-Tiki. The project is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the legendary expedition “Kon-Tiki” of Thor Heyerdahl.
The Year of Ecology in Russia and the 80th Anniversary of the Novosibirsk Region. The organizers are the son of the famous traveler – the oceanologist Thor Junior, the Russian Geographical Society, the Novosibirsk tourist club Kon-Tiki, the “Vahakn and Hasmig Hovnanian” Foundation and the Public Fund “The House of Friendship of the Cities Novosibirsk and Yerevan”.
